
Adding a secondary gigabit network card to an ESX server can be hard because the operating system supports really few network cards: even the world famous Realtek 8169 is not supported and the same happens to the 3Com cards.
If the server is one year old or so, everyone knows how damn hard is to find an add-on from the supplier for that server model and it's not always easy to know in advance what's the chipset set in the card being purchased.
